The Mom and Pop Joint

By Billie Wilson

These days, who can afford to treat themselves to a night out for a great meal? I work hard and so do you…so go where the food is yummy, the service is up close and personable, everybody remembers your face and even your name.

This cozy, classy spot is where the, Who’s Who of Summerlin go…that is the Who’s Who that are hungry and want authentic Italian cuisine for very reasonable prices. Most dishes are under $20.00.

Here’s the TIP: LUCIO’S will host a list of specials from a $25.00 pp (per person) prix
fixe menu including your choice of appetizer or salad, main course offering, and dessert…Happy Hour 4:30 to 6 PM with half price appetizers…LIVE Music Friday Nights…and Sunday discounts on bottles of vino!
I am so hooked on the chicken parmesan or as Lucio might say, “the pollo alla parmigiana.” I tell ya, this restaurant’s renditions of old world Italiano are so good, it will make you want to go home an “smack your Mama!” No really, don’t go home and smack your Mama. That’s just another one of my famous East Coast terms to describe how good something really is!! For you calamari lovers pay close attention…fried or sautéed…this dish is superb…and the homemade red sauce is slammin!! Lucio is the sole proprietor and most nights he will meet me personally at the door with an inviting, “Bella, Bella, where have you been; you hungry?” I slide into my favorite seat at his small bar (perfect for those of us that sometimes dine alone), and relax and be pampered by his professionally trained staff.
Gotta taste for seafood, pasta, meat, fish or chicken prepared by a chef from Rome whose first and second language is Italian? I say that to impress upon my readers that Lucio’s chef is the real deal! Visit on a Sunday, and Lucio most times is in the kitchen preparing meals himself. Pride of ownership is an understatement in describing my good friend Lucio. Lucio Risorante won Best Italian Restaurant by the Review Journal Las Vegas…the newspaper’s personal pick!
I’m a sauce girl…red sauce, brandy sauce, vodka sauce and garlic sauté… OMG!!! Lucio does them all to perfection. This is a directive…save room for dessert! Lucio’s cannoli’s are beyond satisfying. He has a special recipe from his grandmother for her famous ricotta cheesecake which is a unique must taste desert menu item.
LUCIO’S RISTORANTE is the place. Lucio’s is located at 8615 W. Sahara Avenue, near the SW corner of Sahara and Durango (702) 233-2859, www.lucioristorante.com.
